In order to believe that a blame or praise is sincere in nature, we have to know that the person is offering it of their own free will. Free will displays that the person has strong feelings toward the comment and feels some need to express it. Without the notion of free will, the comment can only take it for which it truly is: just a sentence. Without free will the sentence has no true feeling attached to it; it is emotionless and void

Pick up the nearest book to you and turn to page 45. The first sentence describes your life. "Clever men, distinguished men, and even men of exalted station formed a perpetual and brilliant court around the fascinating young actress of the Comédie Française, and she glided through republican, revolutionary, bloodthirsty Paris like a shining comet with a trail behind her of all that was most distinguished, most interesting, in intellectual Europe." The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy

The First

I feel most connected to my work when it has invoked some kind of feeling in me, no matter how strong. I want my readers to fall in love with the work that I do, just as I did while I was writing it. I want to surprise people and change the way that they think about story telling. I consider it to be a beautiful art form and I hope that you give me the chance to convince you. I like to make my readers feel sad, just to remind them that there is always happiness on the other side, you just have to be willing to reach for it. I like to remain mysterious, being divided among my various selves.
